School Council is getting ready for back to school! We are starting to think of all the possibilities for fun events and fundraisers we can host this year! We value and want your opinion! We have created a quick survey that will help us understand the needs of Greentree School families better. We would be so grateful if you could take the time to answer! Complete this survey by September 10th and you will be entered into our for a $50 credit towards our fall fundraiser! (one entry per family) Click the button below to take the survey! Greentree's new accessible playground is officially open! Thanks to all of these amazing ladies (Nikki Isley, Kim Groves, Tina Hodgson, Vicky Leepart, and not pictured Amanda Sax and April Rasmussen)! A huge thank you to the Town of Drumheller (Kevin Blanchett and Darryl Drohomerski) for helping oversee the build! Go play and enjoy!!!
Labels for the "Stuff Kids Lose"It's not too late to get your Mabel's Labels for the upcoming school year! Express shipping (1-4 days) is free with a $60 purchase! Labels for everything! Jackets, sweaters, shoes, crayons, lunch boxes... the list goes on and on! Dishwasher, microwave and laundry safe. By supporting this fundraiser you are helping school council purchase school programs and pay for the new playground addition! Thank you! Visit www.mabelslabels.com, click support a fundraiser, find Greentree School and start shopping! The playground is looking amazing!! As much as we all want to jump in and play, the playground IS STILL CLOSED for the time being! There are a few clean up items that we need to do, the surface needs to fully cure, and most importantly, we need to have it inspected before it can open. I assure you that the playground will be open and ready to be played on by the time school starts though! Stay tuned for an opening date!
Due to some drainage and base preparation issues, we still are definitely $4000 away from our final goal! Please consider donating any amount to help us finish up the project! Thank you to all those amazing people/businesses who have donated so far!! Accessible Playground Almost Finished!
I am very excited that we happen to be building our new accessible and inclusive playground during the year of Canada 150. It has opened doors to more grant options for funding the project, and because our platform of inclusivity, this playground will be a great addition to our Canada 150 celebrations! Canada 150 is all about fostering a greater sense of belonging, inclusion and reconciliation in communities.
“We know that the 150th anniversary of Confederation is more than just a birthday party. It's a moment to reflect, renew and regenerate. To reach across divides and make new connections. To build a national narrative that weaves together thousands of local stories.” - Canada 150 Alliance, The Power of Together This is our chance to dream big about our communities, and bring out the best that Canada (and our local communities) have to offer, now and for future generations! We’ve registered our playground project with the 150 Alliance (see link below) to show our commitment to being a part of Canada 150 celebrations and our common goals of inclusivity and cultivating for our future generations! Please hop over to #drumcan150 and like their page to get involved in our amazing community’s ongoing activities! This is the year to get out, meet your neighbors, volunteer, get involved, and get excited about Drumheller! https://150alliance.ca/projects/project_listings/greentree_school_accessible_playground https://www.facebook.com/DrumCan150/ At Greentree School we are Planting the Seeds for Life! The Parent Council members at Greentree Elementary School have taken on the task of planning a new accessible and inclusive playground in addition to the current playground. An ever-growing student population has made a playground addition a necessity, but our primary objective is to increase the accessibility of Greentree Elementary School’s playground to meet the needs of children with mobility challenges while also creating a vibrant and inviting place for all children and families to play and be active. It isn’t just about children with disabilities either. Parents, grandparents, or caregivers with disabilities can now play with their child/grandchild! The playground becomes a truly multi-generational gathering space for community enjoyment, socialization, healthy bodies, and imaginative fun! Stay tuned for updates and details on this exciting playground project! Contact us to get involved! What will this playground include?
